LG Software Innovations was one of the first companies involved in the creation of software to copy DVD movies. This is a very important factor to consider when selecting an application to back up your DVD movies. Why?

Because companies with long software development histories mean that their products are more apt to be stable; that is, more time has been expended to work out the bugs resulting in a superior product. Too, these companies have a longer history of customer feedback to ascertain what the customer would like to see added (or removed) from the product line. This then, results in a product that is user-friendly; giving customers exactly what they want.

This is the case with the 1Click DVD Copy and 1Click DVD Copy Pro DVD Copy software products. They are very stable and work to perfection in producing high quality copies of your DVD movies.

What has impressed me the most about LG Software Innovations product line is that their product line are highly  focused, which is another factor that makes them so good.

For example: Their are many DVD Copy software products that integrate within them other functionality such as DVD to iPod, DVD to PS3, DVD to Xbox, DVD to Zen and so forth. These things may give the product a perceived add value, but it also makes the program more bulky, not as easy to use, and more problem prone.

A focused product, that is, one that is created to copy just DVD movies, or one that is created to just convert DVD movies to iPod format will work faster and will be less problem prone. This is what you will find in the 1Click DVD Copy and 1Click DVD Copy Pro products.

I have personally used and written reviews on other DVD Copy software products that integrate other conversion functionality other than just copying DVD movies. A common denominator I have found in almost all of them is that they seem to work very hard to accomplish the tasks for which they were created. It is not that they do not work, but in relation to the 1Click DVD Copy product, they do not work as well or as fast. This is logical because the program as other items integrated into them making the programming code in which they were created “Binarily Fat.” A good comparison of programs we are all familiar with is the old Microsoft Windows 98 Operating System as compared to Windows XP.

By comparison, the Windows 98 operating system was Binarily smaller than Windows XP. This means that Windows 98′s programming code was smaller and so the program ran faster than Windows XP (which is Binarily Fatter) under the same PC configuration conditions (processing power, memory, etc). Additionally, that Windows XP and Windows Vista are Binarily fatter, take longer to load, run slower, and they contain more bugs. That is why we see the constant barrage of Microsoft updates to patch those bugs. This is also why more computer processing power is required to run these new Binarily fatter programs.

Likewise, that the 1Click DVD Copy product is Binarily smaller than many of the other integrated DVD Copy software products, they will will run lean and sweet on your computer producing a superior copy of your DVD movies.

I felt compelled to write this article because many believe that when they purchase those DVD Copy software products that do a whole lot more than just copy DVD movies, that they are getting more bang for the buck. That is not the case. The reality is that there are trade offs that can lead to failed or substandard DVD copies. Even more, to user frustration and dissatisfaction.

So when shopping around for DVD copy software products, look for those which are focused on just accomplishing that task: Copying DVD movies.

DVDFab Platinum 6 User Interface – Main Movie Copy

Upon inserting the DVD movie and launching  DVDFAB 6.0 automatically scanned the inserted DVD movie. All that was left to do was to click the Start button to start the copying process.

DVDFAB 6.0

In about 17 minutes,  DVDFAB 6.0 ejected the burned DVD. When placed in a DVD player, the movie contained all of the extras and played beautifully.

DVDFAB 6.0 from start to finish produced a copy in 33 minutes. Not as fast as 1Click DVD Copy Pro but well under and hour.

Pros

DVDFAB 6.0 user graphical interface was simpler than the previous version and easier to use. We particularly liked the additional features that makes it possible to convert DVD movies to many of the mobile devices such as iPod, Zune, and PSP. DVDFAB 6.0 produced a high-quality DVD copies.

Cons

Last years cons were removed in this new version. It is obvious careful thought during the development stage was given to making  DVDFAB 6.0 easier to use and navigate through. Some movie copied were choppy.

Quality of Copy

Good. Some copied DVDs were choppy. This is the trade-off when purchasing bundled DVD copy applications. 1Click DVD Copy Pro, a DVD Copy only application is a much better application. Movie copies always excellent and all played well.

Customer/Technical Support

We emailed Fengtae Software customer support and within an hour, a response was received. Their website has an excellent customer support system in place as well as an excellent forum..

Final Comments

DVDFAB 6.0  was a good DVD movie copy program.  It had  new and  attractive Graphical User Interface that was easy to use.

It has plenty of features for more advanced users wanting more control over the final copy. One of the outstanding features was it’s very fast burn engine; impressive.

We particularly liked all of the options to copy DVD to any one of the mobile formats such as iPod, PSP, XBOX and more. A good buy.

Here is a free solution for converting your DVD movies to iPod.

As with any free program, there are trade-offs. The trade-off here is that the process is slower (but not bad) than using DVD to iPod conversion software packages that you pay for.

Another trade-off is that one of the programs (Videora) that you will be using will have lots of advertisements on them. Most of them are harmless; but every now and then you will see advertisements encouraging you to download software because in viruses have been detected on your computer. DO NOT download or install those programs, they are malware products that can harm your computer.

So, ignore them. If you find that you are unable to dismiss what appears to be a download of a spyware scanning program, simply cancel and restart Videora and start again. Chances are you will not see that online scanner ad again. [Don't forget to look at the video tutorial at the end of the article]

1. Install and start DVD Decrypter. Go to Mode/File and select IFO I. Figure 1

Sometimes you may not want to copy a DVD movie to a blank DVD. Oftentimes, you may want just to archive and organize your DVD movies on to your Hard Drive instead. Actually, it is not a bad idea to do so if you have the hard drive space.

I was asked if it was possible to download YouTube videos and then burn them to DVD so that one can watch them on their DVD players. The answer is a resounding, yes.

There are many ways to do this: There are slow ways involving several steps and software programs and there are quick ways involving a few steps. There are many software packages that can do the job; some free, some not free.

So, what I am going to present here what I personally feel is the fastest and easiest way to download YouTube Videos and then burn them to DVD disc.

Here is what you will need and why:

1. YouTube Catcher (Free) – This will let you quickly and easily download YouTube Video To Your PC.
    
2. DVD Detective FLV Converter – This will quickly convert your YouTube videos to AVI video format.
